2021 Bay Half-Arabian Colt
By: Bon Coeur (Benetton Dream/Sandro Hit)
Out of: Tahriki Malika ox (Tahriki Rakkad/Holima)
UPDATE! Bon Ami is officially double registered with the Arabian Horse Association and the American Rhineland Studbook! He has been inspected and branded Rhineland! He received excellent remarks from the judge for his athletic ability and having a lovely canter and plenty of suspension at the trot.
We saw a need for quality Half-Arabian Sport Horses that can excel in both the Arabian dressage circuit but still be competative at a national level in open USDF dressage competitions. Therefore, we thought we would try something a little different by crossing one of Europe's top dressage stallions on our beautiful Weser-Ems approved Arabian mare, and we are beyond ecstatic with the result! Born April 15, 2021, Bon Ami NLS is a sports car of a colt! We fully anticipate him to check all the boxes as a future dressage superstar. He is already showing his athletic abilities with a fantastic, uphill canter, and a trot that is loaded with suspension. We do not yet know how tall he will be, but his dam is 15h and sire is listed as 16.2 1/2h; we are guessing somewhere in-between, likely 16h.
Bon Ami's dam will be presented to the American Hanoverian Society and the American Rhineland Studbook in the fall of 2021, making Bon Ami eligible to be registered with one of these two registries, in addition to Half-Arabian. This will ensure his eligibility to be shown in both open USDF shows as well as Arabian Sport Horse shows! He will be branded, microchipped, and come with a lifetime USEF number.
Sire: From the Lövsta Stud Station: Bon Coeur has fantastic elasticity with powerful but light and airy gaits. He was judged a premium stallion in Verden 2014 and won his 30-day test in Schlieckau in a very strong field, achieving a total of 9.1 points for his gaits. During the 30-day test he was rewarded with the maximum 10.0 points several times. Bon Coeur has achieved a score of 9.0 points multiple times for rideability during qualifiers to the Bundeshampionat. He was also champion in Hannover 2016, and was both as a 3-year and 4-year-old Reserve-Bundeschampion in Warendorf. Bon Coeur is a modern sports horse, with three excellent gaits, fantastic mechanics, and superb rideability. He was awarded the Weltmeyer Prize 2017 from the Hanoverian Association for his magnificent year in the sport.
Bon Coeur competed for the first time in Sweden in September 2018 with outstanding results. Securing 93% in his 6-year-old test, with a full 10 points for future potential. He then went on to win his second competion at Advanced Medium level with an impressive 73,2 %. In 2019 he continued his superb track record making a strong start to the 2019 competition season by winning the 7-year class with 80,3%, then going on to even win his second start of the year and securing an early qualification to Falsterbo Horse Show. Bon Couer with Caroline Darcourt in the saddle had a very successful 7-year season resulting in their selection to the Young Horse World Championships and first reserve place in the German team. Success has continued into the 2020 season with the pair taking 2nd place at St Georges level (72,4%) and securing their first International Intermediate I win (71,9%) in Wellington. In the second week at Wellington their strong season continued by winning the CD1I* Prix St George class with 72,9%.
Offspring
Bon Coeur`s foals have become very popular at the foal auctions, and despite their young age have made strong impressions on several top European dressage riders. During the elite foal auction in Munich in July 2018 the most expensive foal was sired by Bon Coeur. In August Bon Couer had a total of 24 sons presented in Hannover. In October 2018 during the stallion test in Verden seven out of eight of his sons were approved, and 2 became premium stallions. Bon Coeur became the stallion with the highest number of approved sons.
During 2019 Bon Coeur continued to show what strong off-spring he produced with both his sons presented during the Oldenburg performance show becoming premium stallions. One of which became the winning stallion and sold in the following auction to DLZ Lodbergen for 660 000 Euro.
Bon Couer`s son Atterupgaaards Barcelo won in 2019 the Danish 35 days performance test with 914,5 points.
Breeding
The grandsire, Sandro Hit, has proven success both as a breeding stallion and a high-level dressage horse. With merits including winning the World Young Horse championships 6-year class and being a national champion. He has produced countless offspring who compete at S-level, a large number of which have competed in World Cup finals, Olympic Games and other major championships.
In the third generation is the grand dam Carismo, by Calypso II. The jumping bloodlines found longer back in the pedigree have certainly contributed to the strong active canter and powerful hind legs. Especially in combination with Sando Hit, Calypso II has sired some very successful dressage horses.
Tahriki Malika, known on our farm as "Mali" (pronounced Molly) is the end result of our search for the right “type” of Arabian mare to incorporate into our small dressage breeding program. She comes from the perfect combination of older Russian, Crabbet, and Egyptian lines not seen much today in the modern Arabian show world. She is the type of Arabian that is "built to last" with excellent movement that boasts loads of suspension in the trot, lovely shoulder freedom, an amazingly smooth canter, and a lovely walk, coupled with an uphill build, a gorgeous shoulder, face, legs, and those fantastic large, Arabian feet (my farrier loves them!) all bundled together with an amazingly quiet disposition. In 2019 she was presented to Weser-Ems (the small horse and pony division of the Oldenburg Horse Breeders Society) and was accepted into the main mare book with excellent remarks on movement and type. n September of 2021, Mali was presented to the American Rhineland Studbook, and was added to the Main Mare Book. This means that all of her foals are eligible for double registration with the Arabian Horse Association and the American Rhineland Studbook or Weser-Ems.
Price includes all registration, inspection veterinary, and microchip fees, as well as board through weaning. Bon Ami NLS is registered Half Arabian, and is now registered and branded with the American Rhineland Studbook. If you are looking for a colt with plenty of character and personality, Bon Ami is your guy! Please inquire for details at [email protected]
